Election / Reelection of General Committee Members

Dear FD sailors,

it’s time for the next elections / reelections of General Committee members.

Following positions are up for election at this year’s Annual General Committee Meeting (AGCM) at the Worlds in Scarlino, Italy:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • VP Championships
  • VP Communications
  • VP Development

Please feel free to nominate any proper candidate who you think is the best person for one of the above position. Please be aware of the following procedure for the nominations for these positions which must be in accordance with our Bye Laws No.’s 6.6.5, 6.6.6 & 6.6.12:

6.6.5 Nominations for appointments to the Executive Committee shall be made in writing to the General Secretary at least three months before the commencement of an AGCM. Each nomination shall be proposed by five IFDCO members from at least three countries and shall indicate that the person nominated has confirmed their willingness to serve in accordance with the Byelaws.

6.6.6 On receipt of a valid nomination to fill a vacancy on the Executive Committee, the General Secretary shall post a notice on the IFDCO website, together with a short curriculum vitae supplied by the nominee. Within one month the General Secretary shall notify the IFDCO membership of a vote together with a deadline one month later, and shall then tally the votes and post the results prior to the AGCM.

“When an election is required by the Bye Laws it is to be conducted and concluded by a vote of all current IFDCO members present at the competitors meeting. The IFDCO General Secretary will act as the returning officer for the election and will advise the general committee of the result. The general committee shall then appoint the new members of the general committee in accordance with the IFDCO Foundation Rules.

6.6.12 The Vice President Development shall be nominated by IFDCO members who are not represented by the five Commodores.

All nominations along with correct number of proposers must be received by the General Secretary Meike Greten (generalsecretary@sailifdco.net) no later than Friday the 23rds June.

Open Ukraine FD Championship 2017

We are very happy to announce the 2017 Open Ukraine FD Championship from 21-23 July at Old Salt Village in the Kharkov region. If you want to know more about FD sailing in the Ukraine, look into the upcoming FD Bulletin. MARC GER172

UK National Championship

Hello everyone I can now give you a bit more information about our 2017 Open National Championships, which we are sharing with the 5o5’s

Dates:-       27th – 30th July 2017
Host Club:- Hayling Island Sailing Club
Races:-       9 Races (2,3,2,2) each of 45 – 60 minutes. Racing starting at 13:00 each day
Courses:-    Will be triangle, sausage ailed in the bay (weather permitting)
Entry:-       £150 per boat however it has been agreed that the UK Class will give a 50% subsidy for all entries, making the cost just £75 per boat*
Socials:-     BBQ & music on the Thursday evening (cost of tickets is included in the entry) + some after sailing refreshments on the other days which will be provided by IFDCO/BS,
* Two conditions for receiving the grant both crew & helm must be members of IFCDO and your entry and the £75 payment must be received by the 31st May.

We have so few active boats in the UK these days we are now very reliant on visiting teams from Germany, Holland and elsewhere to support our Nationals if we going to survive, so please can I ask that spread the word around your National Class

Austrian Championship – accommodation

The Austrian Championship will be held in Neusiedl from April 29th till May 1st at the UYCN. At the same time the Kosar National Championship will be held at the UYCN and the annual Surf Opening just next door and not in Podersdorf. The organizers recommend to book your accommodation as soon as possible,  it will be very busy that weekend…. Here is the link for entry. MARC GER172

NZL and Australian National Championship
