Worlds Standpoint 4.8 (6)

To all FD sailors:
STANDPOINT
In regard to the upcoming Worlds and the permanent changing situation around Covid the IFDCO has the following standpoint:
As up to this moment the Championship will take place. If the situation in Spain changes in the way that the Championship is no longer possible we will inform you on the IFDCO-website as soon as possible.
Today’s situation (21-7-2021) is that  Spain is coloured red but allows people to travel into the country. To do so several requiremenents do exist; so
+  You need to show proof of full vaccination at least received 14 days before you tavel to Spain
+  You have proof on paper that you have a full recovery from Covid-19; this statement must be at least 11 days old but not older than 180 days
+  You must have a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours
+  You have a negative antigene-test not older than 48 hours
+  In these cases you don’t have to go into quarantine
+  ChiIdren under the age of 12 can travel freely into Spain without any of the above mentioned documents
At the moment different countries have different status for Covid-19. For example Germany and Italy are green and the Netherlands are red.
So please check out the situation in your own country and of course also the status for your return.
We understand that some of you have difficulties with the decision weather they should go to the Worlds or not. There is a lot involved also financially.
As IFDCO we of course hope that we will all be sailing in Altea and have a great time! But of course we do not have control over this situation. If very shortly before the event travelling to Spain is not longer allowed this would be
awful.
So everybody has to take their decision for themselves and take their own responsibility in this.
We hope that we can all be there and have a great Championship!!
Regards
Peter van Koppen

Transport Altea 5 (1)

We all hope the worlds event in Altea will take place. I’ve made some investigation about transport possibilities. I do have following proposal:
• Overseas per container
• Loading at my terminal in Moerdijk, Netherlands, this time (if enough sailors, we can load in germany as well, some additional costs)
• Containers will be placed at the yacht club in Altea and stay there during the event
• Loading in Moerdijk will be either saturday 14 aug or monday evening 16th august, such to be decided
• Arrival in Altea 31st august
• Costs for transport all in Moerdijk-Altea-Moerdijk 1.100,- per FD at 6 FD’s per cntr
cheers

FD Worlds 2021 – Registration is open 4.6 (5)

Dear friends of the Flying Dutchman International Class,

from the Club Náutico Altea we want to successfully organize the Flying Dutchman World Championship. Last year it was impossible to celebrate any event because of the pandemic situation. Thanks to the medicine advances and the knowledge of the virus, we will organize the event with more guarantees and with protocols for the safety of all participants, committees, organizers, and other people involved in the celebration of the World Cup.

We are pleased to inform you that we will celebrate the Word Cup in Altea, Spain, from September 4 to 11, 2021.

The registration is open on the Website. We are waiting for you.

Postponement World Championship Spain to September 2021 3 (10)

As we are all aware and have to deal with the effects of the Corona-virus this all also effects  the sailing-activities all over the world. From different countries I hear the disappointment that we are not allowed to sail or sail regattas.

With all this in our minds and in the first place looking at the health of all sailors we have to
make a decision about hosting the World Championship in Spain this year.
With deep regret we have to make the decision to postpone the World Championship by one year. We waited as long as possible to make this decision hoping that there would be a positive change of facts. But there are so many reasons why we can only postpone the Championship (for example: one very good team would not be able to come as the crew cannot take any vacation this year in order to keep his job, the British sailors cannot come as their health insurances would not reimburse any medical costs correlated to Corona while going outside of Britain, all participation from outside Europe
was cancelled earlier due to the uncertainty of the Corona situation etc etc ).
Even if the medical situation would be a lot better in September we would not have a good and fair Championship for all these reasons. Let’s not forget even the Olympic games had to be postponed. Believe me we all would have liked so much to be in Spain this year and have good sailing in our phantastic FD but we just cannot decide otherwise.
The exact date next year will be published later. We have had contact with the Spanish about this and it will be in September again as this is by far the best time for the club!
Kind regards
IFDCO Committee
