Invitation to the Bene Wiedemann challenge (Trophy and Rules) 5 (1)

Dear FD friends,

To remember his friend Bene Wiedemann, the Circolo Vela Cesenatico and the Italian FD class have decided to associate the “Alto Adriatico Trophy” with a Challenge named after him to commemorate the figure of Bene and his friendly relations with the Club and the Italian FD class. To honor the spirit of hospitality, the Club offers free registration to all foreign crews participating in the event.

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued a new ordinance regulating international travel under COVID-19, which is in effect from 16 May until 30 July 2021. A very good news is the removal of the quarantine requirement for travelers from EU and Schengen countries, Israel, and the UK. However, all persons entering Italy must present negative COVID-19 test results from the 48 hours prior to entering Italy.
We would be grateful if could share this message with the family of Bene Wiedemann and with all the FD sailors interested.
Please find attached the invitation to the Bene Wiedemann Challenge and the N.o.R.
Thank you

Dear FD fellows,
We are pleased to provide you all the details we received from the club Univela in Campione for the EuroCup regatta to be held in Campione del Garda on 7,8 and 9 May 2021.
N.o.R., Entry Fee, Registration and Entry List / Meldegeld, Meldeliste und Ausschreibung:

In German: https://www.campioneunivela.it/de/regatten/2021/eurocup-flying-dutchman/

Regarding the parking for Campers/Mobile Home, space is available for 8 vehicles. They are normal parking lots to which we can get electricity. For 3-4 days, they have to keep the dirty water in the camper though.

For those wishing to come and rent a room, Univela Hostel usually apply the “Regattas” discount to our list prices. To give you a concrete example and to simplify, the standard 2-person room with breakfast with the discount for FD is € 55 per person per night. Obviously the restaurant is open and freely accessible for guests, while for those who do not sleep with us it is possible to eat “take away”. Always applying today’s restrictions (20 april 2021).

Quick Italian Rules Explanation for Sailors

Italy is divided in different regions. Every region or province is changing colour regularly, going from white to red. This situation is changing and is difficult to forecast which color we will be at the time of the regatta. Despite the colors, The Italian National Sport Authority is giving the sailors a sort of “passepartout/laisser passer”.

Here are the details:
  • Travelling for sport activities, if connected to a National Level event, are compared to work travels and they are authorized in all regions (yellow, orange and red zones).
  • Covid Test. It depends on your country of origin. You might need to have a negative covid test performed in the last 48h before entering Italy. Please check with your Foreing Affair office or read (in italian) the Italian Foreign Affair recommendations http://www.viaggiaresicuri.it/home
  • Sport. Training and National Level sailing competitions (Regattas) are authorized in all regions/provinces (yellow, orange and red).
  • Accommodation. Hotels can be open in yellow, orange and red regions/provinces. (email to hostel@campioneunivela.it )
  • Restaurant. The restaurants, only inside hotels, can be opened for the hotel guests in orange and red regions. In yellow regions, all restaurants with outdoor tables could be opened.
  • Regatta. We are following the same protocol of 2020 and therefore you won’t find physical notice board, registrations should be done online and gatherings should be reduced.
  • Documents/Papers. It is useful to show a proof of participation to the regatta. If you are coming, please send an email to  club@campioneunivela.it  so they will send you an official invitation that you can show at the borders.
