We have had to change the dates and venue of our National Championships.
The reason for this that we have been advised that the local conditions at Highcliffe are such that launching & recovering plus sailing to/from the sailing area may prove very difficult for the Flying Dutchman especially in adverse weather conditions Therefore in the best interests of the class the decision was made to abandon the idea of going to Highcliffe and instead go to Lake Bala in North Wales & hold our Championship as part of the clubs August Bank Holiday Regatta. Bala S. C. last hosted our Championships back in 2006 and the club have always made the class very welcome whenever we have been there in the past.

The New details are as follows:-
Dates:- 29th – 31st August
Format:- 8 race over 3 days
Entry:- In recognition that anyone coming from Europe will have a fair distance to travel it has been agreed that the entry for all visitors entry will be free.
Courses:- As set by the R.O. on the day, configuration will depend on the prevailing weather conditions.
Bala is located in North Wales close to the Snowdonia National Park so the area offers plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling and general sightseeing so the chance to sail & holiday in this most beautiful setting.
We advise booking any accommodation fairly early as Bala is a popular holiday destination.
Here is the link to the Bala S. C. website where you will find all the details about the club, accommodation etc. The club has already posted the NoR. for the Regatta ( I have asked the club if they can add Flying Dutchman Open National Championships to the event heading) and an Entry Form is attached. The Sailing Instructions which will include any Class Specific clauses will be available on-line nearer the time or available at Registration.
If anyone need any help or advise please do not hesitate to contact me

Regards
Tony
