Update on Planatech from Luca 4.9 (8)

Dear FD Sailors,

I’m thrilled to share some important and wonderful news with you!

Back in March 2022, I informed you that PlanaTech FDs would no longer be manufactured due to changes in my professional life.

This was a difficult moment for both the FD class and me, as the development of the PlanaTech FD marked a significant new era for all of us. The introduction of new technology and design led this winning project to numerous successes, including National, European, and World Championship titles.

Today, I’m delighted to inform you that the molds and the FD project have found a new home in Germany, where our dedicated FD sailor and friend, Karsten Keil (GER 16), will continue this journey.

Karsten and I have developed a strong connection through our shared passion for the FD class and the project, and I am confident in his ability to carry forward the legacy with the same commitment and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing many new boats on the water soon, reflecting the shared vision that Karsten and I have developed together.

I sincerely thank Karsten and wish him all the best for the future of the project and I want to extend my sincere thanks to all my customers and wish all FD sailors exciting and successful regattas.

For further information, please feel free to reach out to Karsten Keil directly at +491707842424 or by email at info@planatech-fd.de.

All the best

Luca Ungaro

LETTER OF RESIGNATION 4 (5)

Dear Flying Dutchman sailors,
after having served the Class and its sailors as Treasurer for four and a half years and as President for five years now I have taken the decision to step down as President.
Too many issues are going in a way that I can no longer support and do no longer want to be responsible for.
As the General Secretary and the Treasurer will function as the ‘interim’ President I want to ask you to address all upcoming issues to them.
I wish the Class the very best for the future and hope that the most beautiful dinghy of all times the Flying Dutchman will make its sailors happy for a very long time to come.
Kind regards to all of you
Peter van Koppen

NEW BOAT REGISTRAR 5 (2)

We can all welcome our new Boat Registrar Rob Taal.
Rob has been sailing the Flying Dutchman for a really long time.In the beginning as a helmsman and later he
has been crewing for Henri Koning for many many years under the flag of AHO representing the dutch Caribbean
Islands. His last regatta was the Worlds in Scarlino 2017.
So Rob knows the class really well and Tony was happy to hear that Rob would succeed him.
So everybody who has any issue concerning the measurement certificates and measurement forms, for example new boats or any transition to a new owner has to address himself/herself to Rob Taal.

BOAT REGISTRAR WANTED 0 (0)

Dear FD-sailors,
As Tony Lyall recently informed the General Committee that he took the decision to step down from his position as Boat Registrar we of course first want to thank him for all his effort and time to perform his job.
As all positions in the board are important also is his. We need the Measurement Certificates in order to be able to compete in our regattas.
So Tony many thanks from the Class for what you voluntarily did for us after off course being our President in earlier times!
So at the same time we want to ask if anyone is willing to take over the job as the Boat Registrar. The task of the boat registrar is providing the measurement certificates. In the first place for the new boats but also in case of change of ownership or when measurement certificates are lost. In 2023 Tony issued 19 measurement certificates. This to give an
indication of the quantity. Tony is willing to help an eventual successor in the transition.
Note: As the Boat Registrar you are not obliged to take part in any meeting.
So please if anybody is willing to take over his job please contact us!
Regards
Peter van Koppen
