Day 3 of the FD World Championship 2026 was a long one for the fleet, starting around 09:30 and finishing almost at 18:00.
The Flying Dutchman fleet was assigned to Area Lima. It took some time to leave the bay and reach the race course, but once there, three races were completed.
The first race was sailed in lighter wind, while the following races brought slightly stronger conditions. Overall, it was a good racing day with fairly stable wind and no major shifts, making boat speed and clean sailing especially important.
After yesterday’s single race, today’s three races brought some movement in the overall standings and reshuffled the table.
At 18:00, the Championship Dinner began in the Kieler Woche Lounge and was opened by IFDCO President Meike Greten. The evening offered a relaxed atmosphere for everyone to talk, unwind and exchange stories from the day’s racing.
As part of the Mid-Week Event, the band 4United brought great energy to the outdoor stage and really got the audience going, before DJ Ralf Brunett closed the evening with music.
A great and demanding day of FD racing in Kiel, followed by a lively evening ashore.
